Kangaroo Valley

A few months ago we went to Kangaroo Valley.

This is an area just to the south of Sydney, a little bit inland from Wollongong. It has the dubious honour of being one of the wettest areas of southern Australia.

When we were there, in May, it was very humid and cold.

Kangaroo Valley is most known for its iconic sandstone bridge, which is a smaller replica of one exactly like it in Northbridge in Sydney. This bridge is only one lane and still retains the timber deck. At night (we were staying in the old house that’s just on the town side of the bridge, you can hear the traffic go ker-thunk-blblblblblblblbl-ker-thunk over the wooden beams. Thankfully not too much traffic, because it’s not a very important road.
